DENVER – (May 12, 2008) Deproduction, a local nonprofit specializing in community media production and training, announced the introduction of a unique non-profit production grant. The grant will introduce and train the recipients in valuable new media, assisting them in furthering their mission and gaining more exposure in the Denver Metro community. The grant is made possible through the support of Community First Foundation, who will be partnering with Deproduction in the new initiative. The purpose of the Denver Metro Nonprofit Production Grant is to support participating nonprofit organizations in leveraging new media technologies to increase outreach and awareness within the community. The program will provide several local nonprofit organizations with the skills and resources required to continue using these powerful tools for years to come.
Tony Shawcross, Deproduction and Denver Open Media’s Executive Director, hopes the program will demonstrate to recipients that new media is not as complex as it seems to be. “New Media has enormous potential to further the mission of any nonprofit” says Shawcross. “Few organizations have really grasped how easy it can be for them to transform their outreach and community awareness with the tools and training offered at Denver Open Media. We’re so grateful that Community First Foundation has stepped-up to support local nonprofits who want to realize the full potential these resources represent for their organization and their community.”
Deproduction will choose at least five local nonprofits to participate in the program, which is scheduled to begin early this summer. Among the benefits the grantees will receive are a Denver Open Media Organizational Membership, which includes unlimited use of edit stations, cameras and studios; four free certification classes; and unlimited hosting of broadcast content for television and the web, and guaranteed TV cablecast of every show submitted. Participating organizations will also be trained in the production of short promotional videos, and will participate in a professionally produced half-hour studio show, to be aired on Comcast channel 57, highlighting the work of the organization.
